Stir Crazy
"I'm a penguin, penguin, penguin, penguin.
I'm a penguin. I eat fish.

I'm a penguin; polar bears eat me.
I'm a penguin; I eat fish."

Napping Little Snow Baby
I've returned to the land of the living after the {{ominous drum sound}} "March Nor'Easter" that thwapped New England over the head with a large, icy paw.

All I've done for the past two days is sit by the television watching 24 hour coverage on the blizzard. It's funny to compare the names the news stations have given the snow storm and the enthusiastic boyancy of their weather-people. The storm was called "Winter Blast" on one station and "March Nor'Easter" on another. One weather-person, skipping across the screen, claimed Central Massachusetts would get only 12 to 24 inches, while another one forecasted 18 to 30 inches. Enough details to roll me over into a nice afternoon nap.

It was great to play with the neighborhood kids (and grown ups) outside, though. We built a huge snowman with boots made out of snow, a carrot nose, pine-branch hair, and a rhododendron-leaf tie. I went inside, made some Lipton's Cup-A-Noodle soup, and took a nap.

I don't think it's going to be socially acceptable at work today to take those afternoon naps like I have in the past few days.

Work, Sweet Lovin', and Girl Scout Cookies
Sitting here at Jason's place of employment listening to the clickety-clickety click of programming in phone numbers, engineering their switch and other tech-y stuff I don't really understand. But that's why he does it and I don't. (I hate to say, but it's so cute to see him working. **Vomitting noises abound** Let's go make out in the switch room!! Be right back!!)

Oh I wish. Terrible. It must be obvious that we're in the cute-sy-poo stage of the relationship, though we've been together for 3 years. I love him, even though he just farted and I'm sitting next to him.

Alrighty then. Back to eating Girl Scout cookies for dinner because I can't type on this damn laptop.

KatieGirl Flashback

(Cheese factor: **** = fairly high)

November 1994
ThenBoyfriend
: You have beautiful eyes. I want to make your dreams come true. I will take you to see Tori Amos in concert.

April 1996:
Setting -- In line at Tori Amos concert (New Haven, Conn.) with Aquaintance and ReboundBoy. ThenBoyfriend is now ExBoyfriend and in line next to us with two Pothead friends. Make five minutes of uncomfortable small talk ("so, you got your license. Still working on becoming an Eagle Scout?").

ExBoyfriend: Where are the tickets?
KatieGirl: Didn't my brother give them to you?
ExBoyfriend: No...
KatieGirl: He has them. I don't.

(Scrounge money to buy tickets from scalper. Very embarrassing.)

Setting: Darkened concert-hall. KatieGirl sits on the edge of her seat, crying, watching Tori Amos alone. ReboundBoy is no comfort.

December 1999
Setting
: Tori Amos concert in Wallingford, Conn. 18 rows from the stage. KatieGirl is in the arms of fiance, Jason. Dreams have come true.

Update on characters in flashback:

ReboundBoy was not a rebound because he's gay.

ExBoyfriend is studying to be a park ranger while experimenting with Ecstasy.

Brother still scatter-brained. Still unclear whether the "ticket mix-up" was intentional.

KatieGirl is happy as she's ever been.
